Morningstar Engineering MC6 --> Strymon Volante --> Eventide H9 --> GFI System Specular Tempus
While returning to Anssi Kela's band after having worked on other projects for the summer, Tuomas Wäinölä wanted to upgrade his pedalboard with a bit more MIDI control. He already had an Eventide H9 on the board, and a Strymon Volante was going replace the pedalboard's old delay. To supplement the vintage-style warmth of the Volante with pristine modern delays and reverbs, a GFI System Specular Tempus was also included on the board. After browsing through a couple of options, Tuomas wanted to use a Morningstar Engineering MC6 mk II as his MIDI controller. The controller arrived just in time for the shows and we spent a couple of hours programming the board and the song presets, making sure everything worked as planned.
This kind of a mix of MIDI control along with the board wired in series is a great, intuitive and flexible system: a player can easily use the board without any extra programming and when more specific tones are needed, one could program song-specific presets on MIDI-capable pedals easily.
